Five days, one city, an in-depth dialogue on “precision compliance.”

On March 29, the five-day CONSTRUMA RENEO 2026 exhibition in Budapest concluded successfully. The Sunways team showcased its full range of residential storage solutions at the event, engaging in face-to-face discussions with hundreds of local Hungarian installers, distributors, and end users. The team not only secured order intentions but also gained a deep understanding of the genuine needs of the Hungarian market.

The Hungarian government’s 100-billion-forint OETP (Otthoni Energiatároló Program) residential energy storage subsidy program is reshaping the rules of the local market. The core logic behind the subsidy is clear: encourage self-consumption and strictly control net metering.

This means that only energy storage systems that precisely meet the following six core requirements can secure this “entry ticket” to the market:

• Capacity Threshold: The energy storage system’s rated capacity must be no less than 10 kWh
• Voltage Requirements: High voltage (≥100V) is preferred; low-voltage systems are limited to batteries originally manufactured by the inverter manufacturer
• System Topology: Only direct current (DC) coupling is supported
• Operating Mode: Must support anti-reverse flow to achieve “zero reverse power flow”
• Grid Connection Attributes: Must be grid-connected; standalone systems are not supported
• Power Limit: Maximum inverter power must not exceed 5 kW

In addition, products must comply with the MSZ-EN series of grid connection standards, be included on the local DSO’s whitelist, and have the capability to report data to the FEAK platform. Compliance is no longer a bonus—it is a mandatory requirement.

At this exhibition, Sunways highlighted its portfolio of residential energy storage products, which fully meet the requirements of the Hungarian market. All products are currently in mass production and available for delivery:

Solution 1:

The Sunways STH-5KTL-HS high-voltage energy storage inverter is compatible with Sunways STE-ES 10–30 kWh high-voltage batteries or high-voltage batteries from other brands.

Solution 2:

The STH-5KTL-LS Sunways low-voltage energy storage inverter is compatible with the STE-OS 10–20 kWh Sunways low-voltage battery.

Every product meets all six of Hungary’s subsidy requirements:

• Inverter power ≤ 5 kW
• System capacity ≥ 10 kWh (supports both high-voltage and low-voltage battery series)
• Battery voltage ≥ 100V (high-voltage series) or compatible with the same brand (low-voltage series)
• DC-coupled architecture
• Standard anti-backfeed function
• Supports grid connection and anti-islanding
• Standard WiFi/4G communication across the entire series, meeting FEAK data reporting requirements
• Listed on the local DSO whitelist, meeting MSZ-EN grid connection standards

Although Construma RENEO 2026 has concluded, the golden opportunity for Hungary’s residential energy storage market has only just begun.
