Sunways Showcases Low-Voltage Energy Storage at IGEM 2026 in Malaysia
Sunways presented its single-phase and three-phase low-voltage hybrid inverters and battery storage products at IGEM 2026, held from 7 to 9 October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. During the three-day exhibition, the team met installers, distributors and project developers from across the country to discuss solar and storage applications for homes and small businesses.
Conversations focused on increasing solar self-consumption, addressing backup power needs and selecting storage configurations around actual electricity demand. The products on display offered partners a range of options for exploring these requirements.
Supporting Solar Self-Consumption in Malaysia
In Peninsular Malaysia, Solar ATAP supports on-site solar consumption while allowing surplus electricity to be exported for an energy offset. SuRIA Home also offers rebates to eligible residential solar customers, subject to programme conditions and available allocations. Solar ATAP policy source; SuRIA Home policy source.
Against this backdrop, Sunways focused its exhibition discussions on matching solar generation with electricity demand. A suitably configured inverter and battery system can store part of the daytime solar output for later use, while backup power can be planned around essential loads.
Low-Voltage Products for Homes and Small Businesses
3–8kW Single-Phase Hybrid Inverters for Residential Energy Needs
The Sunways STH 3–8KTL-LS series offers power ratings from 3 to 8kW for single-phase residential solar and storage systems. It supports diesel generator and EV charging integration options, giving installers additional flexibility when planning household energy systems.
With IP66 protection and a UPS switching time of less than 10ms, the series supports backup power for essential loads in appropriately configured systems. Matching the inverter, battery and household loads remains central to both solar self-consumption and backup planning.
5–20kW Three-Phase Hybrid Inverters for Flexible System Design
The Sunways STH 5–20KTL-LT series spans 5 to 20kW, providing options for three-phase homes and small commercial applications. The series offers a maximum efficiency of 97.6% and IP66 protection.
The 12kW, 15kW and 20kW models feature four MPPTs and two battery inputs, providing flexibility for PV string layouts on roofs with different orientations and for battery configuration. Installers can select a model according to the site’s electrical supply, roof layout and load requirements.
STE-QS16 Battery Storage for Later Use of Solar Energy
Also on display was the STE-QS16 low-voltage battery. The floor-standing unit has a nominal energy of 16.076kWh, maximum continuous charge and discharge currents of 200A, and an IP65 protection rating.
The battery is rated for at least 8,000 cycles under the specified test conditions. Its inclusion in the exhibition gave partners a practical reference for discussing storage capacity alongside everyday electricity consumption and backup requirements.
Battery cycle-life test conditions: 0.2C charging and discharging, 25°C, 90% depth of discharge (DOD) and 70% end-of-life capacity (EOL). System design must account for inverter, battery and load requirements.
Continuing Conversations with Malaysian Solar Partners
IGEM 2026 gave Sunways an opportunity to connect directly with Malaysia’s solar industry and discuss low-voltage storage in the context of local residential and small commercial projects.
Sunways welcomes further discussions with installers, distributors and project developers across Malaysia and Southeast Asia on product selection, system configuration and potential collaboration, helping bring clean energy into more homes and businesses.
